Medical Access Insurance Plus (MAI+) is a form of MAI coverage, but with even more peace of mind.
MAI+ includes not just the access to specialists, diagnosis and surgery that MAI does, but also includes Critical Illness (CI) coverage. What happens if one of your staff members is ill, and needs the coverage of MAI, but they’re still well enough to work? MAI+ also provides them with guaranteed issue Critical Illness coverage (up to $150,000).
Let’s look at an example. One of your key staff members, who is covered under your MAI+ plan, is diagnosed with cancer. They feel well enough to continue working, but need to take time off for treatments. Unfortunately, either they can’t drive with their form of cancer, or they don’t drive at all. Now they have two options:
- Their spouse can take unpaid time off work and drive them for treatment.
- They can take a taxi cab to treatment (no one going for cancer treatment feels like taking public transit).
The CI coverage can be used to pay for the spouse’s lost wages, or for the taxi cab fare.
And this is just one example of how the CI can be used – it’s entirely up to the covered staff member.
